Melanie H. (Ruderman) Starkweather

June 3, 1952 — June 2, 2015

WORCESTER– Melanie H. (Ruderman) Starkweather, 62, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 2nd, surrounded by her loving family and a longtime friend. She was born in Worcester and was the daughter of Theodore and Jeanne (Harvey) Ruderman.



She leaves her husband, Joseph L. Starkweather; two daughters, Laurie S. Nagi and her husband Robert of Westborough, MA and Rabbi Jill R. Perlman and her husband Jeffrey of Bedford, MA; her six grandchildren, Spencer, Tyler, and Connor Nagi and Lev, Eli, and Maya Perlman; her sister, Candace Ruderman of Worcester, and her brother, Joel Ruderman of Hallandale, Florida. She was predeceased by her brother, Jeffrey Ruderman. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, Lindsay Elmer of Worcester, Jeffrey Ruderman and his wife Lynn of Worcester, Matthew Ruderman and his wife Jen of Dudley, and Andrew Ruderman of Augusta, ME as well as several grandnephews and grand nieces.



Melanie particularly enjoyed her role of mother and, for the past sixteen years, grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and they adored her and loved their time with her. Melanie also loved spending time decorating her home and yard, reading, playing cards with her friends, adding to her many collections, and playing with her dogs.



FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. ON THURSDAY, JUNE 4, AT TEMPLE EMANUEL-SINAI, 661 SALISBURY STREET IN WORCESTER. Burial will be at Holy Society Cemetery on Havana Road in Leicester. Immediately following burial, family and friends will gather at the home of Laurie and Robert Nagi at 8 Edmund Brigham Way in Westborough, MA until 4 P.M. Shiva will be held on Thursday evening from 7-9 P.M. with minyan at 7:30 P.M. at the home of Rabbi Jill and Jeffrey Perlman at 4 Perham Street in Bedford, MA. Shiva will continue Friday 1-4 P.M.; Saturday 7-9 P.M. with minyan at 7:30 P.M.; Sunday 4-7 P.M. with minyan at 6 P.M.; Monday 4-7 P.M. with minyan at 6 P.M.; Tuesday 4-7 P.M. with minyan at 6 P.M.

Memorial donations made be made in Melanie’s name to the charity of your choice.
