LUNENBURG – Christine M. (Dodge) Newton, 52, of Howard Street, Lunenburg died peacefully Saturday evening, April 10, 2010 in her mother's home in Sterling, surrounded by her loving family after a year-long battle with cancer.
She leaves her beloved husband of 16 years, Craig M. Newton; her son, Matthew D. Newton at home; her mother, Sally (McNeil) Dodge of Sterling, formerly of Needham; a brother, John C. Dodge of Sterling; two sisters, Cynthia A. Dodge of Sterling and Sandra L. Potaski and her husband Michael of Worcester. She was born and raised in Needham, the daughter of the late Howard A. Dodge and lived 15 years in Lunenburg.
Christine graduated from Needham High School and Mount Saint Mary's College in Newburg, New York. She worked as a certified nurse's aide at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Leominster where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine for eight years. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her son play baseball and basketball.
Christine's loving family and home were her priority in life. She will always be remembered for her selfless nature of putting others needs before her own with intentions from the heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 16th in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 17th, in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main Street (Rte. 13), Leominster, followed by burial in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling.
