HOLDEN – Ann M. (Butler) Haynes, 76, of Sterling Road, Jefferson, died peacefully on Thursday, July 22, 2010 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Donald R. Haynes; a son, Kevin J. Haynes and his wife Diane of Spencer; a daughter, Karen A. Heath and her husband Jeffery of Holden; a sister, Janet Butler-Mayfield of Worcester; four grandchildren, Matthew M. Haynes and his wife Abigail of Rowley, Beth M. Haynes of Worcester, Courtney S. Heath of South Portland, ME and Elizabeth A. Heath of Jefferson; two great-grandchildren, Natalie and Lillian Haynes; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Ralph A. Butler, Sr. and Gerald O. Butler, Sr. predeceased her. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, a daughter of Arthur J. and Dorothy E. (Vickery) Butler, Jr., and has lived in Jefferson for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Haynes was a 1952 graduate of Commerce High School and was a secretary at Worcester Insurance Company for many years. She was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Holden and a long time member of the former St. John's Episcopal Church in Worcester. She enjoyed her flower garden, crossword puzzles, family gatherings and traveling to Sweden, England and Scotland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 25th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. Haynes will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 26th, in St. Francis Episcopal Church, 70 Highland Street (Rte. 31), Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gathering Inn (a women's spiritual center and retreat house), 82 Healdville Road, Hubbardston, MA 01452.
