Biography
WORCESTER - Maxine (Goodman) Smolen, 83, of 413 Charlestown Meadows Drive, Westborough, died on Thursday, September 11, 2014.
Her husband, Ivan Smolen, died in 1988. She leaves two sons, Stuart Smolen and his wife, Robin, of San Mateo, CA, and Mark Smolen of Brooklyn, NY; two daughters, Susan, wife of Jay Abend of Hopkinton and Karen Smolen of Newport Beach, CA; two brothers, Dr. H. Maurice Goodman and his wife, Sandra, of Worcester and Arnold Goodman and his wife, Lynn Marie of Boca Raton, FL. She will be sorely missed by her children, her brothers and her seven grandchildren, Danika, Mandy, Jeremy, Charles, Henry, Shannon and Keegan. She was born in Glen Cove, New York, the daughter of Eli and Mary (London) Goodman, and lived there until moving to Westborough 18 years ago.
FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 1:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, IN BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE, JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Interment service will be held on Sunday, at a time to be announced, in Beth El Cemetery, Paramus, New Jersey.
Memorial Observance will be held 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, September 15, and 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 16, at the residence of Susan and Jay Abend, 9 Norcross Road, Hopkinton.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
