WEST BOYLSTON – Maureen "Mosie" R. (Haglund) Mink of Woodland Street, died peacefully at home surrounded by her devoted husband Everett "Lovey" Mink, her loving family and friends on Saturday, September 4, 2010.
She leaves her husband of 40 years, Everett E. Mink; three brothers, Dennis Haglund and his wife Mary of Auburn, Brian Haglund and his wife Jennifer of Norwood and Gary Haglund and his wife Michelle of Worcester; four sisters, Patricia Leibman of Webster, Jean Maynard and her husband Gary of Oxford, Theresa Haglund and Deborah Haglund, both of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Carol Haglund of Worcester; an "adopted sister", Laura Westall of Worcester; and eight loving nieces and nephews, Michael, Donna, Dennis, Joseph, Olivia and Isabel Haglund, and Gary and Sean Maynard. Maureen also leaves special groups of friends from West Boylston, MA and Ogunquit, ME as well as her favorite and only designer James Hogan.
She co-owned and operated along with her husband, Everett E. Mink, Inc. General Contracting in West Boylston. Previously she worked 18 years at New England Telephone.
Maureen was born and raised in Worcester, a daughter of Edward G. and Rita (Donohue) Haglund, and was a graduate of Classical High School. She has lived in West Boylston for the last 40 years and summered in Ogunquit, Maine for many years. Maureen could be found on Ogunquit Beach at "The Second Ramp" where her "OMBC" umbrella would perfectly protect her from the sun, or you may find her on "The Porch" with her friends at Barnicle Billy's.
Maureen was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the West Boylston Garden Club, Tower Hill Botanical Gardens in Boylston, The Ogunquit Play House and Ocean Meadow Bocce Club in Ogunquit, ME. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at The Worcester Hahnemann Hospital, Worcester Horticultural Society and many others. Some of Maureen's proudest moments were being a model for James Hogan fashion shows that benefited Hope Lodge, American Cancer Society, Worcester Art Museum and the Massachusetts Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children.
Maureen was a wonderful cook and had the extreme pleasure of meeting with Julia Child at her home in Cambridge. She had great pleasure attending cooking classes at Boston University where she met many great chefs including Jacques Pepin and Julia Child. She enjoyed birds, flowers, gardens and traveling around the world with her husband and friends. Her favorite place was Paris France which she visited many times. She always talked about her special trips to New York City with "Her Girls" Olivia and Isabel and spending time with "Her Boys", Gary and Sean. She enjoyed listening to classical music, attending plays at The Foothills Theatre, Hanover Theatre, Ogunquit Playhouse, Wang Theater as well as Opera houses and theatres all over the world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Maureen will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 9th, in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
