Life Legacy
WEST BOYLSTON – Maureen C. (Laconte) Migdelany, 66, formerly of Holden, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in Worcester, Maureen was the daughter of the late Anthony and Cecelia (Morley) Laconte and lived many years in Holden before moving to West Boylston several years ago. She joins her beloved husband of 20 years, Edward “Ted” Migdelany, who passed away last September 24. Maureen graduated from Venerini Academy in Worcester and attended the University of California, Los Angeles. She put her artistic talent and innovative nature to work by owning and operating several companies within the craft industry including Menagerie Enterprises and Needle Form Inc. Her entrepreneurial spirit then led her to open another successful company within the industry, Creative Vision Design, Inc., where she invented and patented “Stitch-A-Photo,” a software program that was sold around the world. She was also a member and past president of the Hobby Industry of America.  One of her other passions and talents was interior design and decorating. She was also known to keep an impeccable home and was envied for her uncanny ability to coordinate colors and patterns…all of which she loved sharing with her children and close friends. She was not known for waiting around letting things happen, but rather, Maureen “made things happen” with her trademark tenacity, imagination and perseverance.  Some of her design work was featured on QVC, and sold at Walmart. After her retirement, she turned her new-found hobby into a business of selling and buying antiques in Sturbridge. In her spare time, Maureen enjoyed playing golf with Ted and her golfing buddies, and was a longtime member at Worcester Country Club and The Vineyards Country Club in Naples, FL where she won several golf tournaments. Other interests included shopping adventures with friends and family, traveling throughout the world both for business and pleasure, spending time tending to her garden, and enjoying all forms of art and collectibles.  Her life was centered on family and faith. When it came to family, Maureen had a heart-warming presence, and nurturing disposition…qualities that made her a terrific mother, and a beloved grandmother to her four grandchildren who she adored.  They were the joy of her life. Maureen’s Catholic faith was a source of nourishment throughout her life particularly the last several years of her illness. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston where she attended Mass daily.  She will be affectionately remembered and missed by her two daughters, Erin CampoBasso and her husband, Andrew of Holden and Kimberly Tobler and her husband, Jeff of Los Angeles; three step-sons, Todd Migdelany and his wife, Karen of Jefferson, Eric Migdelany of Wareham and Casey Tinsley of Cambridge; two sisters, Linda Bauman and her husband, Steve of Port Charlotte, Florida and Susan Ovian and her husband, Bob of Jefferson; a brother, Paul Laconte and his wife, Donna of Wallingford, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Drew, Chloe, Callie and Emma; many nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Maureen’s family from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, February 27, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Tuesday, February 28, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Interment will take place privately in the spring at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital (in support of lung cancer research).
