Matthew J. Toohil

Wakefield/Rutland - Matthew J. Toohil, 35, formerly of Rutland died peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was born in Worcester, son of Robert E. Toohil and the late Deborah (Monahan) Bryant and had lived in Wakefield for the last year with his girlfriend Alex and her family.

Matthew graduated from Wachusett Regional High School with the class of 2003 and went on to pursue a career in sprinkler fitting, working successfully in the industry for several years. Matthew had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching his nieces play soccer on the weekends.

Matthew will be lovingly missed and remembered by his father, Robert E. Toohil and his wife Marci of Rutland; his brothers, Ryan Toohil and his wife Kathryn of Somerville, and Brendon Toohil and his wife Ashley Orr of Barre; his stepfather Steven Bryant of Barre; and stepsisters Kori Kniskern and husband Michael of Barre, and Kira Scott and her husband Jason of Oakham. Matthew was nicknamed “Uncle HooHoo” to his beloved nephews and nieces Blake, Rylee, Rhyan, Regan, Ethan, Logan, Levi, and Kylee. Above all, he will be dearly missed by his friends, relatives, and co-workers.

Matthew was predeceased by his loving mother, Deborah in November of 2016.

Funeral services are private and under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
