PRINCETON – Mary A. (Costello) Walker, 88, of Princeton, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family. She walked with God to be with her husband, Lester A. Walker, who went before her on 2009 after 54 years together.
She is survived by 5 children, Wayne Walker and his partner, Karen Whittier, of Princeton, Glenn Walker and his wife, Joanne, of Worcester, Susan Keirstead and her husband, Dale, of West Boylston, Marlene Bean of Palm Bay, Florida, and John Walker, along with her 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons (Gene and Scott Walker), her sister (Rosalind Starbard) and her son-in-law (Dennis Bean).
Mary was born in Worcester, MA on September 12, 1935, to John K. and Rosalind E. (Cox) Costello. She was recently a resident at Mt. Carmel Apartments after living and raising her family for 60 years in East Princeton. She was a retired case worker for the Department of Social Services. She was a former member of the Princeton Lions Club and enjoyed thrift shopping, popping into the casino, coastal Maine, monthly lunches with her long-time friends, her Patriots and most importantly, time with her family.
Calling Hours for Mary will be held on Friday, March 15th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester, Road, Sterling. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 16th at 2:00 PM at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge Street, Worcester. Burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
