HOLDEN - Mary (Bosnakis) Tonna age 90, of Holden, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023 with her family by her side. She and her husband, Arthur touched the lives of countless many and will be deeply missed by friends and family. Her husband of 60 years, Arthur Tonna, Sr. died in 2014. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late George and Lemonia (Thomas) Bosnakis.
Mary leaves 2 sons, Arthur Tonna, Jr. of Worcester and Andrew Tonna and his wife, Anna of West Brookfield, a daughter, Elizabeth (Tonna) Sarantos and her husband, Constantine of Andover, a daughter-in-law, Trish Martin, of New London, CT; a sister, Helen Bosnakis of Worcester; 5 grandchildren, Andrew J. Tonna and his wife, Sheena, Alexandria J. Beane and her husband, Leonard, Daniel E. Tonna, Alyssa M. Sarantos and Christopher D. Sarantos; and 3 great-grandchildren, Mason Beane, Gianna Beane, and Declan Tonna; and a large extended family. Her son, Elliot, and a brother, James Bosnakis, predeceased her.
Mary graduated from Commerce High School in 1950, and worked as a bookkeeper prior to marrying Arthur. Thereafter as a home-maker, Mary devoted her life to her family. Mary was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader.
Family and friends are invited to join with Mary's family in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester on Monday, March 13th from 10:00 - 11:00am for a visiting hour followed immediately by the Funeral Service. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions in Mary's name be made to Saint Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral Endowment Fund, 102 Russell Street, Worcester 01609.
