Mary M. Seymour

SHREWSBURY – Mary M. (DiMarco) Seymour, 71, beloved mother of Matthew Seymour, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Mary was born and raised in Southbridge, MA. She was the daughter of the late Beni and Margaret (Volpini) DiMarco. She enjoyed a long career as a special education reading teacher at Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in Marlborough. Mary was a positive influence for so many, retiring after 36 wonderful, dedicated years of service. After retirement, Mary continued her love and passion for teaching by tutoring in her spare time. Mary loved gardening and golf. Mary loved the beach, especially the beaches in Aruba, and enjoyed traveling the world with her best friends.

Mary will be lovingly missed by her pride and joy, her son, Matthew Seymour of Barre; her sister, Linda Flynn of Sturbridge; and her two nieces, Rebecca Flynn-Falconer and Kaitlyn Marshall. Mary also leaves behind several great-nieces and nephews whom she loved with all of her heart, and many close friends and former coworkers.

Family and friends are invited to gather with her family from 12 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 6 in the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in honor of Mary Seymour. A scholarship will be awarded to a senior who continues to make progress in Mary’s passion of reading.
