HOLDEN – Mary M. (Kane) Nylander, 94, of Shrewsbury Street, died on Saturday, April 29, 2006 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness.
Her husband of 52 years, John G. Nylander, died in 1994. She leaves her daughter, Holly K. Nylander Raimondo of Needham and a son-in-law, Thomas Raimondo of Stoneham. Besides her immediate family she leaves her beloved cat, “Pumpkin”. Two brothers, John and William Kane predeceased her. Mrs. Nylander was born in Scotia, New York the daughter of John M. and Philomena (Moore) Kane and lived in Worcester and 30 years in Holden.
Mrs. Nylander graduated from Scotia High School and was an executive secretary at Mechanics Hall in Worcester for 10 years, retiring in 1986. Previously, she was the executive secretary at the Friendly House in Worcester where she worked for many years. She was a member of St. George’s Church in Worcester. She enjoyed spending time at home working in her garden and reading.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Nylander will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A visitation period for family and friends will be held the day of the Mass from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to the Catholic Relief Services, 209 West Fayette Street, Baltimore, MD 21201; or World Vision, P.O. Box 78481, Tacoma, Washington, 98481.
