Mary A. (Mastrangelo) Gulinello

December 21, 1923 — August 29, 2018

HOLDEN/NORWOOD – Mary A. (Mastrangelo) Gulinello, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus. Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of Rocco and Antonette (Tarantino) Mastrangelo.Mary was a graduate of East Boston High School, class of 1941. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Salvatore M. Gulinello, and together they raised their family in Norwood. After her husband passed away, Mary moved to the Colony Retirement Home in Holden where her social nature made it very easy to form many new friendships. Mary was a woman of great faith and was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson for many years. She was extreemly crafty and enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her spare time.She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, Mario J. Gulinello and his wife, Lorraine of Fall River; her daughter, Marie Whooley of Jefferson; her grandchildren, Diana Antul, Michael Gulinello, Angela Gulinello and Beverly Cournoyer; and her great-grandchildren, Connor Antul, Caitlyn Antul and Jason Cournoyer, Jr. In addition to her beloved husband, Salvatore M. Gulinello who passed away in 2001, she is predeceased by her brother, Pasquale Mastrangelo and her sisters, Philamina D’India, Michaelina Drago and Theresa Merino. The family would like to extend a heart-filled thank you to the staff at Holden Nursing Home for providing Mary with such kind and compassionate care.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, September 4 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, September 5 at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. At the convenience of the family, a private burial will be held at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 229 North Main Street, Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760 or to the Spina Bifida Association, 4590 MacArthur Blvd, NW Suite 250, Washington, DC 20007.
