Mary T. (Lynch) Goodell

March 2, 1931 — July 13, 2018

HOLDEN- Mary T. (Lynch) Goodell, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, July 13, 2018 in her home, after a brief illness.
She leaves her husband of 62 years, Robert P. Goodell, Jr.; two sons, Robert P. Goodell, III and his wife, Beverly of Holden and William B. Goodell of Duxbury.  She was a beloved Grandmother to Melissa, Carly, Robert IV, Molly, Grace, Jenna, Kelsey and Lexie; and a Great Grandmother to three great grandchildren, Lily, Wyatt, Ryan and was predeceased by a fourth great grandchild, Naomi.
Mary was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Thomas J. Lynch, Sr. and Caroline (Mead) Lynch.  Mary was the youngest of her siblings and was predeceased by her brothers; John, Thomas and James.
She graduated from Commerce High School and had been a resident of Holden for 60 years.  She worked at Memorial Hospital in the business office, where she met her future husband, Bob.  She also worked as an EEG, medical technician for several years for Dr. Herbert Rubin and Dr. Robert Bazemore in Worcester.  She wintered for many years on Singer Island, Florida and enjoyed spending time with many wonderful friends.  She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach, FL and St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, MA.  She spent many years as an officer and volunteer for the Women’s Guild of St. Mary’s Church, the Women’s Club of Holden and volunteered at Holden Hospital and UMASS Memorial Hospital, Worcester, MA.  Mary enjoyed knitting, baking and gardening, she also loved the ocean and spent many memorable days on the beach and boating in West Dennis, MA.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family, relatives and friends, hosting many memorable holiday events in her home.
The family would like to thank Mary’s hospice nurse, Athena Hartman, RN and Alana Hackett, PCA for the wonderful and loving care that they provided. There are no calling hours.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 21 at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson, MA.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Mary’s Church, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.  To share a memory or leave a condolence, please visit our "Guest Book."
