Biography
HOLDEN – Mary C. (Leuker) Wernecke passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
Her husband, Robert B. Wernecke, passed away in 2007. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Heidi A. Wernecke of Jefferson; a dear sister-in-law, Joann Clickner of Racine, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Mildred Puffett of Oro Valley, Arizona; two nieces, Lorie Puffett of Oro Valley, Arizona and Stephanie Smith of Naperville, Illinois; and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, John M. Leuker.
Mary was born in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of John F. and Mary M. (Maibohm) Leuker and had lived in the Jefferson section of Holden for the past 40 years. A hard working and dedicated homemaker, Mary enjoyed knitting, antiques and long walks.
A private graveside service was held at Grove Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
