WORCESTER – Mary J. (Larson) Baril, 71, of Wachusett St., Worcester, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 7, 2013. Born and raised in Holden, Mary was the daughter of Carl H.J. and Evelyn W. (Howard) Larson. She lived over 40 years in Worcester.
Mary graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1960. While raising her five children, she embarked on a caring career as a certified nurse’s assistant. She worked at Salisbury Nursing Home and over 20 years at the Christopher House in Worcester where she affectionately cared for alzheimer patients. Mary was a member of Chaffin Congregational Church in Holden.
She enjoyed genealogy and was known to spend hours researching online. Other interests of Mary’s included shopping, dining, and buying gifts for her grandchildren. Several evenings each week you would find Mary watching “World Wrestling Entertainment” with her longtime friend, Robert. Mary was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend and will be remembered fondly for her honesty and mild-mannered nature.
She is survived and will be lovingly missed by her son, Joseph D. Baril and his wife, Houng of Everett, Washington; four daughters, Diane M. Parker and her husband, C. Jeff of Barre, Nancy A. Mercedes and her husband, Ben of Worcester, Susan J. Bottom and her husband, T.J. of Ponte Vedra, Florida and Joann L. Wagner and her husband, Scott of Worcester; three brothers, John Larson of Charlton, Paul and Carl Larson both of Worcester; ten grandchildren, Brenda and Elvis Baril, Catherine, Linda, Asia, Fallon and Ben Mercedes II, Anthony and Rhyanna Bottom and Jacob Wagner; two great-grandchildren, Jasia and Jonah; a niece, Katherine and nephew, John.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at Grove Cemetery in Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
