HOLDEN – Mary G. (McElhinney) Dresley, 73, of 56 Sherwood Hill Drive, passed away at home in the presence of her loving family on Wednesday, October 5, 2005.
She leaves her husband of 49 years, Joseph M. Dresley; six daughters, Susan C. Doxsey and her husband Lawrence of Lexington, Kathleen M. Khirallah and her husband Ernest of Altadena, CA, Mary A. Pirani and her husband Thomas of Holden, Patricia A. Dresley of Holden, Alice A. Lynch and her husband Jeremiah of Holden, and Jean M. Dresley and her husband Joseph Seyler of New Orleans; three sisters, Kathleen Gatta of Sayville, New York, Alice Whelan of Garland, Texas, and Clare Shannon of Lakewood, New Jersey; and ten grandchildren, Samuel, Sarah, Grace and Martha Doxsey, Matthew and Joseph Pirani, Jeremiah IV, Mary Alice and Ann Lynch and Nora Eileen Seyler. Two brothers, Edward and Peter James McElhinney, predeceased her. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Manley) McElhinney, and lived 29 years in Holden.
Mrs. Dresley was an underwriting rater for Worcester Insurance Company for 18 years, retiring in 1994. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church and the Holden Senior Center. She enjoyed crafts, playing cards, reading, bowling and walking with her friends.
The funeral for Mrs. Dresley will be held on Saturday, October 8, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 1325 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 7, in the funeral home. The family suggests donations be made to the Friends of the Holden Council on Aging, 1130 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
