Mary E. (Flanagan) Heinrich

STERLING/CLINTON – Mary Heinrich, 97, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Her giving spirit and sly sense of humor will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and wonderful neighbors.  She was born on September 28, 1920 in Clinton the daughter of James Flanagan and Mary (Garvey) Flanagan. She attended elementary school in Sterling and graduated from Leominster High School and Salter Secretarial School. She worked for Eastern Isles Co. in New York City and in Clinton where she met and married Val Heinrich in 1944. They were married for 34 years until Val’s passing in 1978.Mary lived most of her life in their home on Flanagan Hill Road in Sterling.  She was a member of St. Richard Church and the Sterling Women’s Club for many years and was a founding member of The Sterling Historical Society.  She was an active volunteer in the Sterling schools until the age of 90. Mary resided at Sunrise of Leominster for the last several years. She is survived by her son, James T. Heinrich and his wife, Sheila of Martinez, CA; her grandchildren, James Heinrich and his wife, Miranda of Sterling, Julie Ducom and her husband, Jean-Christophe of San Diego, CA and Jeffrey Heinrich and his wife, Sara of Sherwood, OR; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Seamus Heinrich, Abel and Thomas Ducom and Jonathan Heinrich.A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary will be held on Monday, March 19 at 11 a.m.  in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial was private at St. John’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road,  Sterling.
