HOLDEN - Mary Ellen “Auntie Mae” (Rooney) Crimmins, 95, formerly of Reservoir Street, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 in Sterling Healthcare.
Her husband of 25 years, Philip J. Crimmins, died in 1961. She leaves three nephews, Laurence J. Mulry and his wife Sue, John M. Mulry and his wife Judi, all of Holden, and James M. Mulry and his wife Kathleen of Gray, Maine. Her sister, Margaret T. Mulry, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Patrick and Nellie (Gilmore) Rooney, and lived in Holden for 15 years. She graduated Classical High School in Worcester, Class of 1928.
Mrs. Crimmins worked for the Massachusetts Dept. of Welfare for many years, retiring in the mid 70’s. She formerly owned the first laundromat in Fitchburg, MA. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a former member of St. Stephen’s Parish in Worcester. She was a member of the State Worker’s Retiree Association.
The funeral for Mrs. Crimmins will be held on Wednesday, May 4, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. A calling period will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.
