Mary S. (Cammuso) Grampetro

May 7, 1923 — February 17, 2018

WORCESTER – Mary S. (Cammuso) Grampetro, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 17, 2018 after an illness. Born and raised in Worcester, Mary was the daughter of Paul and Madeline (Monfreda) Cammuso and lived here all of her life.Mary attended David Hale Fanning Trade High School in Worcester where she focused on sewing and fashion design. She continued her education attending Worcester, Fitchburg, Westfield and Bridgewater state colleges. She taught sewing and fashion design at David Hale Fanning Trade High School, Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School and taught evening courses at in Charlton, Hudson and Clinton high schools, retiring in 1984.She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson and the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. Mary enjoyed designing and creating fashion ware and inspiring her students to do the same. She will be remembered for her love of fashion, food and family.Her beloved husband of 67 years, Lawrence Grampetro died in 2009. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son and daughter in law, Lawrence Grampetro and his wife, Mary Ellen of Worcester; two brothers, John Cammuso of Worcester and Richard Cammuso of East Greenwich, Rhode Island; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her son in law, Howard Mariotti of Jefferson; and several nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, Mary is predeceased by her daughter, Madeline L. Mariotti and a sister, Rose Caprioli.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, February 20, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 21 at 10am at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
