Mary D. (Angelini) Britton, age 92, passed away on December 4th at the Oakdale Skilled Nursing Center, West Boylston, due to complications of dementia. Mary was born on June 25, 1930 to the late Nicola and Vilge Angelini. She was a lifelong resident of Leominster, growing up on Lincoln Terrace and graduating from Leominster High School in 1948.
Mary was predeceased by her husband and the love of her life, Earl S. Britton; her brother, Hugo Angelini (wife, Vera); her sisters, Elsie Mancuso (husband, Frankie); Irene Valeri (husband, Nelson), and Connie DeCarolis (husband, Tony); and her sister-in-law, Judy Rosenberg.
Mary is survived by her children, Scott Britton (wife, Elisabeth Swan) of Falmouth and Sandy Daigneault (husband, Rick Daigneault) of Leominster; her grandchildren, Mark Daigneault (wife, Ashley Kerr) of Oklahoma City and Erica Allain (husband, Mike Allain) of Leominster; her great-grandchildren, Daphne Allain and AJ Daigneault; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary adored Frank Sinatra and was an avid Celtics fan, having been a season ticket holder for more than 40 years. She had many wonderful travel experiences with her husband, children and grandchildren. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing mah-jongg and golf, shopping, taking trips to the casino, reading and dining out with her friends. She and her sisters, the “Golden Girls,” shared years of joy together, highlighted by their weekly Sunday breakfast and movie ritual. Her greatest happiness came from her role as Gram, loving every moment of sharing in the lives of Mark and Erica. Mary was loved by many, and warm memories of her will be cherished.
Mary’s family would like to thank the exceptional staff at Oakdale for treating her with such kindness, compassion, and dignity in her final years, and especially in her last weeks and days. Likewise, the family is grateful to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living who took such good care of Mary while she resided there.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, December 6th at 1:00 at Congregation Agudat Achim, 268 Washington Street, Leominster. Interment will follow at Agudas Achim Cemetery, 320 Rollstone Road, Fitchburg. Arrangements are under the care of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home in Holden.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
