HOLDEN – Marvin M. Henkins, 60, of 97 Bullard Street, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005, in the Hospice Residence, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 28 years, Maria T. (Pietro) Henkins; four sons, Michael M. Henkins and his wife Shannon of Worcester, Daniel P., Eric P. and John R. Henkins, all of Holden; a daughter, Heather M. Henkins and her fiancee Dean Sweeney of Winchendon; five sisters, Dee Ireland of Sparland, Illinois, Jackie Krager of Sublet, Illinois, JoBeth Walstrom of Mesa, Arizona, Judy McCullen of Princeton, Illinois, and Stephanie Wolfe of Detroit, Michigan; a grandson, James Giacobbi, Jr.; many nephews and nieces. A brother, Robert Henkins, Jr., and a sister, Peggy Stalling, predeceased him. He was born in Lacon, Illinois, son of Marion B. and Rena M. (Cross) Henkins, and lived 28 years in Holden.
Mr. Henkins was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving aboard the USS Independence. For 27 years, he worked for Metso Automation formerly Jamesbury Corp. in Shrewsbury. He was a member of St. George’s Church, was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed fishing and playing cribbage.
The funeral for Mr. Henkins will be held on Saturday, October 15, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will be private in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 14, in the funeral home.
