STERLING - Martha A. (Ruby) Fournier, 96, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at UMass Memorial Healthcare - University Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Northborough, the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Bacon) Ruby and had lived most of her life in Sterling and Marlboro Ma.
She leaves her sons, Richard Fournier and his wife, Laurie of Marlborough, Donald Fournier and his wife, Diane of Virginia Beach, VA, Robert Fournier of Florida and William Fournier and his wife, Kristen of Charlton; her daughters, Joan "Cookie" Govea and her husband, George "Bunny" of Missouri and Pamela Washburn her husband, David of Sterling; her brother, William Ruby of Orange; her sister, Rose Ruby; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph L. Fournier, her son, Joseph, her brothers, James, Jack, Charlie, Tom and George, and sisters, Betty, Maryanne, Elsie, and Peggy.
Martha was a longtime school bus driver for special needs children for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Richard of Chichester Church, and she enjoyed playing Bingo and scratch tickets. She was devoted to her large family and had an uncanny ability to remember everyone's birth date. They all looked forward to their special phone call every year.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, August 20th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
