Biography
WORCESTER - Martha L. (Burnham) Tillson, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Winfield and Alice (Whittlesey) Burnham. Her beloved husband, Donald B. Tillson passed away in 1994.Martha attended Salter Secretarial School and enjoyed a 30 year career as a secretary for the Worcester Public School System. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in South Yarmouth where she lived for more than 20 years before returning to Worcester. She was very active in church and enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in musical groups. She was a member of the Cape Cod Chorus, Worcester Light Opera and the Knights and Maids Choral group in Whitensville. Martha also enjoyed teaching astrology and graphoanalysis. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her two daughters, Sharon T. Creelman and her husband, John of Worcester and Holly T. Depalma of South Hadley; two grandchildren, Kai Depalma and Brooke Shippa; 3 great-grandchildren and one nephew. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Wilson and Donald Burnham and a sister, Lucille E. Carlson.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Martha’s family from 11 to 12 pm on Wednesday, Feburary, 21 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a funeral service honoring her life at 12 pm. Martha will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Burial is private.
