HOLDEN - Mark D. Bulak passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 under the loving care of his family at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He was 59. Born and raised in Worcester, Mark was the son of the late Chester and Kathleen (Eaton) Bulak and lived 36 years in Holden.Mark graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade High School in 1976 where he majored in drafting, and worked for 25 years at Worcester Telegram and Gazette. He was a proud 23 year veteran of the Holden Fire Department where he served as a firefighter, emergency medical technician and as a Lieutenant before his retirement in 2007.Mark's favorite pastimes were fishing and hunting with his family and close friends. He loved being outdoors and looked forward to his annual November hunting trips to Maine. He enjoyed the whole fishing experience including collecting fishing tackle, organizing trips from Alaska to Maine, bonding with family and friends, the peace and serenity of the lakes and ocean, and of course, the fishing stories that lasted a lifetime. First and foremost Mark was a devoted family man. His family fondly remembers spending endless summers days with Mark at their cottage at Carpenter's Beach in South Kingston, Rhode Island. Entertaining at the beach was second nature to Mark. It was not uncommon to find 30 family members and neighbors on their porch having coffee in the morning planning their day on the beach. He will be remembered for his generosity and kind nature.Celebrating his life and legacy of love is his wife of 23 years, Sharon K. (Wolfe) Bulak; his son, Carl “CJ” Mellor, Jr. and his wife, Amanda of Barre; two daughters, Samantha L. Williams and her husband, Thomas of Athol and Stephanie L. Mellor and her fiancé, Andrew Dudley of Gardner; two brothers, Richard Bulak of Shrewsbury and William Bulak of Greenville, Maine; one sister, Linde Gentil and her husband, Matt of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren; his best friend and nephew, John Bulak and his wife, Lynn of Millbury; honorary brother, Richard Cournoyer and wife Cynthia of Lakeville and nephews and nieces. Mark was predeceased by his brother, Chester Bulak, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mark’s family from 1 to 3 pm on Saturday, March 31 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a service of remembrance at 3pm.
