RUTLAND - Marjorie L. (White) Taipale, 94, a Rutland resident of over 80 years died peacefully at Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Community, Manchester, NH on Monday, April 2, 2018. She was born in Quebec, the daughter of William and Annie (Levers) White and lived in Rutland for many years before moving to Manchester, NH in 2012.
Marjorie was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 50 years, Eino M. Taipale in 1994. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Beverly A. Doherty of Bedford, NH and Cindy S. Baldwin of Billerica; her grandchildren, Jennifer Pendleton of Concord, NH, Mathew Doherty and his wife, Lydia of Fairbanks, AK, Erica Baldwin of Billerica and Meghan Doherty of Maple Grove, MN; and her beloved great grandchildren, Abby and Willa Doherty. Marjorie was predeceased by her brother, Raymond R. White and her son in law, Dan Doherty, Jr.
Marjorie's life was centered around faith, family and community. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland for many years, where she leaves many dear friends. Marjorie will also be remembered for the years she helped as a Teacher's Aide at Rutland Community Kindergarten. She truly enjoyed the 31 years she volunteered at the Rutland Senior Center Meal site and the time she spent on the Rutland Council on Aging. Marjorie and her beloved Eino were active with the Finnish Heritage Society Sovittaja in Rutland as well. Her greatest passion in life was her family whom she cherished.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be held in the spring of 2018 at Rural Cemetery, Rutland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, Memorial Fund, 264 Main St., P.O.
