WORCESTER – Marjorie (Cohen) Potash, 76, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, surrounded by the loving presence of her family.
Born and raised in Worcester, Margie was the daughter of Melvin and Bella (Weintraub) Cohen. She treasured over a decade of memories living in Northern California with her family before returning to her roots and living out her life in Central Massachusetts.
Margie earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Russell Sage College. After earning a Master’s Degree from Boston State College, she pursued a long career as a Special Education Teacher at Shrewsbury High School. She was also a passionate educator of Holocaust studies. Margie will be remembered for her profound strength and courage.
Margie will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Daniel Potash and his wife, Alessandra of East Rockaway, New York, and Elizabeth Potash and her partner, Nick Maruca of Berlin; her cherished grandchildren, Michael, Thomas, Giuliana and Shoshana; and her sister Terry Cohen Blair of New Hampshire.
Family and friends will gather to honor Margie’s remarkable life and determination at her Funeral Service on Friday, December 30 at 12:30PM at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Interment will follow at B’nai Brith Cemetery, 55 St. John’s Road, Worcester. Memorial Observance will be announced.
