HOLDEN – Marjorie L. (Hammond) Farrell Spencer, 93, died on Monday, November 5, 2007 in the Lutheran Home of Worcester after an illness.
Her husband, Roger Spencer died in 1994. She leaves a son, A. John Spencer and his wife, Alicia of Coventry, Connecticut; a daughter, Carolyn M. Ringgard and her husband James of Holden; a son-in-law, William Lemoine of East Dennis; three stepchildren, Helen Farrell of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Victoria Farrell of Amherst, and Sandra Farrell of Gloucester; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a nephew. Her second husband, William Farrell died in 1972. A daughter, Eileen “Bunny” Lemoine and a brother, S. Dwayne Hammond predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester the daughter of Earl and Mae (Moschberger) Hammond and lived many years in Holden, several years in Storrs, Connecticut before moving back to Worcester in 2005.
Mrs. Spencer graduated from North High School in Worcester and worked as a bookkeeper in the Tax Collector’s Office at Worcester City Hall. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Fox Travel Co. in Worcester. She was a lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she also sang in its choir and as a soloist in her youth.
The funeral service for Mrs. Spencer will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 8th, in Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester. The Rev. Vicki Woods will be officiating. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 114 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608; or the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
