Marion E. (Mcguinness) Darling

February 1, 1924 — January 6, 2017

PHOENIX / WORCESTER - Marion E. (McGuinness) Darling, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Wingate of Brewster. Born in Worcester, Marion was a daughter of the late James F. and Margaret E. (McComb) McGuinness and lived in Worcester until she and her husband Chester J. Darling, Jr. moved to Phoenix in 1980. Her husband, Chester of 60 years, passed away in 2003. Marion graduated from the former Commerce High School and was a Dental Assistant, most recently at the Offices of Dr. James C. Biel, DDS in Marlborough. Marion was the quintessential hostess, lovingly welcoming family and friends from back east while they visited in Arizona. She had a flair for decorating as well as entertaining people. Her love for music and dancing was only surpassed by her love for her husband, which was exemplified every day and continued throughout his illness and his life. She loved her church, Our Lady of the Angels, where she was a member for many years before moving to Phoenix. Marion was especially gifted with a great sense of humor, patience and understanding; respecting everyone and commanding respect from everyone who knew her. She will be missed by her loving nieces Janet Treanor of Yarmouth Port, Madelyn F. Anusbigian and her husband, Robert of Shrewsbury, and Nancy McAuliffe and her husband, Harold of Hudson; and her nephews, Guy Richard “Dick” Elliott of Auburn, and Kevin P Elliott and his wife Patricia of Worcester. Grandnieces and grandnephews include Shannon Levin, Matthew Treanor, James Treanor, John Mannix, Nancy Koutsoukounis, Richard Moore, Caitlin Elliott, Meghan Elliott, and Jenna Rodrigues; and many great grandnieces and great grandnephews. Two brothers and two sisters predeceased her. Marion was an avid golfer and was especially proud and excited about having a ‘hole-in-one’. Marion’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the loving staff at Maplewood in Brewster for the professional care she received throughout her stay at this wonderful facility. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with Marion’s family on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Interment will follow with her husband, Chester, in the Family plot in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Marion’s memory be made to Our Lady of the Angel’s Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester 01603. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Philip G. Haddad, Jr. of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
