Marilyn L. (Gage) Hyson

December 4, 1931 — February 10, 2016

HOLDEN - Marilyn L. (Gage) Hyson, 84, formerly of Leominster, died on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Florida Hospital in Orlando. Born and raised in Leominster, Marilyn was the daughter of Walter E. and Evelyn (Johnson) Gage and lived the last 14 years in Holden. She leaves her beloved husband of 32 years, Warren C. Hyson, Sr.; six sons, Jon W. Ducharme of Illwaco, WA, Stephen P. Ducharme and his wife, Luz of Lincoln, NE, Daniel Ducharme of Seffner, FL, Dale M. Ducharme of Leominster, Jerry Hyson and his wife, Karen of Paxton and Dennis Hyson and his wife, Barbara of Holden; two brothers, Charles H. Gage of Westborough and The Rev. Raymond Gage of Commercial Point, Ohio; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter; two nephews and a niece. Besides her parents Marilyn is predeceased by a son, Andrew Ducharme and two step-children, Warren C. Hyson, Jr. and Wendy Gates. Marilyn was a graduate of Leominster High School and Fitchburg State College. She worked for the Northern Worcester County Multiple Listing Service retiring as the director. She also attended the Boston Conservatory of Music and taught both the piano and organ. Marilyn was raised in the United Methodist Church of Leominster and was presently a member of both the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Sarasota, FL and First Congregational Church of Holden. She served as a lay speaker for the United Methodist Church Ministries. She passionately enjoyed writing and wrote several plays and musicals which were performed locally and in Sarasota. Marilyn and Warren traveled throughout the United States photographing the works of Herbert Adams, who was a local Sculptor. Marilyn wrote and published the book, “Young Hebert Adams.” Marilyn and Warren spent the last 33 years wintering in Sarasota. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marilyn's family from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday, February 16, at the MILES-STERLING FUNERAL AND TRIBUTE CENTER, 100 WORCESTER ROAD (RTE. 12), STERLING. A Memorial celebrating her life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 17, at the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main St., Holden. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Holden, 1180 Main St., Holden, MA 01520, or the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 7950S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34237.
