Sterling - Marie L. St. Thomas, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 30th at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston. Marie was born in Methuen, the daughter of Elphege E. and Edith (Howe) Lebel and had four siblings - Elphege, Bernice and Paul predeceased Marie, and her brother John Lebel lives in Boca Raton, Florida with his wife Linda.
Marie was a long time resident of Sterling.
Marie attended Beauty School and followed her passion to become a hairstylist at the former Denholm's Salon for several years. She later discovered her love for baking and decided to devote herself full time as a baker at Meadowbrook Orchards in Sterling where she became well known for her famous apple pies. She also loved bird-watching, doing puzzles and family gatherings. She was also a Long time member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Marie was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Ernest L. St. Thomas in 1997, as well as her daughter, Diane last year. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Beverly LaPerle and her husband Roger of Sterling, her sons Mark St. Thomas and his wife Ann of Charlton, Matthew St. Thomas and his wife Karen of Sterling, her grandchildren, Michelle St. Denis, Janine St. Denis, Tami Bolf, Kristi LaPerle-O'Leary, Lori LaPerle, Lisa Rice, Lindsay Fournier, Jill McCleod, Matthew St. Thomas, Emily St.Thomas and Anthony Capuano as well as 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service honoring and celebrating Marie's life at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 8th at Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Rd. (Rt. 62)in Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Town of Sterling Fire Department Ambulance Fund", P.O. Box 515, Sterling, Ma. 01564.
