STERLING - Marie Calderone, a remarkable woman, passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on December 20, 2023, at her daughter Corinne's home, surrounded by family, friends and much love.
As a young widow, Marie faced life challenges with unparalleled strength and courage. She embraced her role as a mother to Theresa Coache (husband Dennis), Albert Calderone (wife Diane), Robert Calderone (wife Kathy), Corinne Howard (husband Wallace) and Ann Dibenedeto (husband Joe). Five little hearts she nurtured with boundless love and care. Her unwavering commitment to her children was a testament to her selflessness and devotion. She also cherished her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Paula Felt and brother Joseph Talbot. Sadly, her brother Robert Talbot predeceased his siblings.
Professionally, Marie served as a crossing guard, and as Matron at the Hudson Police Department, where her compassion and care made a lasting impression.
Marie's compassionate spirit also shone brightly as a house Mother for unwed mothers, where she provided a supportive and nurturing environment helping women navigate the challenge of motherhood.
Her dedication to supporting Veterans, included being a ladies auxiliary member of the AMVETS post 208, past local president, and past district Ladies Auxiliary president, and in the ladies Honor/Color guard.
Even at the age of 60, Marie achieved a milestone by receiving her high school diploma.
Marie felt a profound calling to take an active part in the mission to become a Secular Franciscan; in which she dedicated many hours and years to attain. Devoted to the Virgin Mary, Marie found great solace and inspiration in her faith. She spent countless hours praying the Rosary and saying prayers for anyone she felt needed support.
Marie found joy and camaraderie in the Senior Strutters, where her passion for acting, singing, and dancing brought laughter and a sense of community.
Marie also loved fishing, feeding the ducks, cooking for large groups, and enjoyed the Calderone Family Camping adventures, including her time with the Golden Girls.
May Marie Calderone's soul find eternal peace, and may the memories of her vibrant life continue to inspire those who were touched by her kindness and grace.
