STERLING - Marianne Rose (Ogorewac) Osmolowski, 75, a Sterling resident for many years, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester, following a struggle with cancer. Known to her friends as Anne, she was born in Sarajevo Yugoslavia (now Bosnia) in 1939 to the late Josef Ogorewac and Teresa (Hahn) Konschuk. Marianne lost her beloved husband of 53 years, Oleg Osmolowski, to cancer on September 21, 2014.
Marianne is survived by her son Alan Osmolowski and his wife, Lisa (Speroni) of Holden, as well as her two cherished grandchildren Alexis and Matthew also of Holden; her sister, Lydia Barjaktarevic of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews who reside in various locations in the United States. She was predeceased by her brother and a sister.
Although Marianne had a difficult start in life, she will always be remembered as someone who had a lot of love in her heart for her family and friends. She was born in Yugoslavia at the beginning of World War II, which was later occupied by Germany in 1941. Her father passed away in 1944, leaving her mother to raise the three children at that time. She spent the first 13 years of her life growing up in Yugoslavia and Germany. Her mother became ill with TB and was forced to give her and her siblings up for adoption in 1953. Marianne was later raised by the Catholic Charities Orphanage in New York once she immigrated to the United States. Even though her start in life was difficult, Marianne lived a life focused on family, kindness, tolerance, generosity, forgiveness and love. She always maintained an amazing sense of humor, even during her last few weeks as her health declined. Marianne will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend.
Marianne’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at the Rose Monahan Hospice House and the VNA Hospice program for all they did for a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and her family, as well as thank all of the many other medical professional and caregivers that touched our lives.
The family is planning a small private service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorial donations please be made to the VNA Care Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
