PAXTON – Marian (McGovern) Nichols, 92, of Washington St., Auburn, formerly of 235 Pleasant Street, Paxton, died at home on Tuesday, November 1, 2005.
Her husband of 69 years, Erdic G. Nichols, died on October 7, 2005. She leaves her brother, George McGovern of Paxton; nieces and a nephew. A sister, Martha Lantinen, predeceased her. She was born in Concord, New Hampshire, daughter of Thomas F. and Agnes (Stone) McGovern, and was a life long resident of Paxton. She graduated North High School and Becker College.
Mrs. Nichols worked for Filenes for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Paxton, Paxton Council on Aging, Paxton Women’s Club, and the Persis Putnam Order of the Eastern Star. She volunteered for the Girl Scouts of America and spent many summers with her husband at their home in Brewster.
A memorial service for Mrs. Nichols will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Please omit flowers.
