LEICESTER/HOLDEN - Maria Pauline (Yankus) Sherblom, 93, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home Sunday, January 29, 2023. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late George and Emily P. (Banis) Yankus.
Maria and her husband, Robert Sherblom, resided in Worcester for many years where they raised their children, before relocating to Princeton. They eventually retired to Ocala, Florida.
Maria graduated from David Hale Fanning School of Nursing in Worcester and worked as an LPN at Holden Hospital for over 15 years. Maria had a true love of the arts. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, painting, and stained glass. She loved long drives through country roads with her husband and was an avid camper who could often be found with her husband in Vermont bird watching and relaxing at the Avion camper. She was an avid baker and was known for her deliciously homemade Christmas bread and artfully decorated cookies and cakes.
Most of all, Maria adored her husband of 63 years and missed him every day since his passing. The last five months she lived happily with her daughter Christine, her husband, Allen and her granddaughter, Tiffany in Leicester.
Mrs. Sherblom leaves behind a loving family that will miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughter Carol Jane Sherblom of Gardner, Robert P. Sherblom and his wife Lynn Chevalier of North Fort Myers, Florida, and her daughter, Christine Beer and her husband Allen Beer of Leicester, a sister, Cynthia Douglass and her husband Art of Millbury.
