HOLDEN/AUBURN – Margaret A. (Parkinson) Jacobsen, 84, of Cimarron Lane, died peacefully under the loving care of her family and the staff at Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Holden on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. She was born and raised in Reedley, California, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Gettys) Parkinson and lived in Pittsfield and Everett, MA, where her husband pastored churches, and in Auburn for 29 years before moving to Holden in 2003.
Margaret graduated from Reedley High School and Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. In addition to being a Pastor’s wife, she worked for the Town of Auburn for over 10 years, retiring as the town accountant in 1993. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Worcester and will be remembered for her selfless, gentle and kind nature and willingness to help others.
Her husband of 60 years, Rev. Rayder O. Jacobsen, died in 2011. She is survived by her son, Robert M. Jacobsen and his wife Susan of Holden; a daughter, Margaret Rae Pileggi and her husband John of Holden; 6 grandchildren, Robert, Erica, Thomas and Anna Jacobsen and John and Jason Pileggi; 8 great-grandchildren, Enzo, Julia, Sophia, Juliana, Jackson, Lily, Olivia and Gianna Pileggi; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and James Parkinson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Holden, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to Grace Bible Church, P.O. Box 567, Sterling, MA 01564 (to be distributed to missions projects that she supported).
