Margaret Ann (Montgomery) Richardson

October 11, 1937 — December 5, 2013

HOLDEN/WORCESTER – Margaret “Peg” Anne (Montgomery) Richardson, 76, of Worcester, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus in Worcester, surrounded by her three sons, Chuck, Ned and George. She was born in Mansfield, Ohio, the daughter of Clifford and Mary (Marquis) Montgomery and was a long time Holden resident.

Peg was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Charles A. Richardson who passed in October of 2000. A sister, Lynda Belle Hawkes, predeceased her in 2011. She graduated from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD, and went on to earn two Masters degrees in Social Work and in Child Psychology, before embarking on a 30 year career in healthcare in the Social Services Department at Fairlawn Hospital and later, with the VNA Hospice in the Fitchburg-Leominster area, retiring in 2009.

Peg was active in the community throughout her life, in the Choir and Vestry of Saint Francis Episcopal Church in Holden, the Junior League of Worcester, and she was an avid supporter of causes for animal welfare and those in the wider community who were in need.

Her immediate families, who miss her dearly, include Charles Richardson and his wife Fiona of Andover, Edward Richardson and his wife Roshann of Sandwich and George Richardson and his wife Kelly of Staatsburg, NY; along with 8 wonderful grandchildren ranging in age from 2 to 20 years old.

Calling hours will be at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12th. The funeral service for Peg will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 12:00 p.m. at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, 421 Wianno Ave, Osterville, with burial following at Mosswood Cemetery, Putnam Avenue in Cotuit, where she will be reunited with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations in Peg's memory may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bell Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 437, Osterville, MA 02655.
