Margaret 'Peggy' (Mcvee) Dougal

October 18, 1921 — July 15, 2017

WEST BOYLSTON - Margaret "Peggy" (McVee) Dougal, 95, of West Boylston, died peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home.

Peggy was born October 18, 1921, the daughter of the late William and Jane McVee. Born in Bonnyrigg, Scotland, Peggy worked as a seamstress and also as a nurse during World War II. She married Neil Dougal and they resided in Bonnyrigg until 1952. Neil emigrated to the United States before Peggy to find work. He was employed as a plasterer for two years and then made arrangements to bring Peggy and their children Junea and Brian to live in America permanently. When he retired from plastering in 1967, Neil took up the Lord's evangelical work and preached locally at Bethany Gospel Chapel. Peggy supported him wholeheartedly. She was a diligent member of Bethany serving in numerous ways and being one of their pianists for over 40 years. After  their children were grown, Peggy and Neil traveled worldwide spreading  the Gospel. They celebrated 51 years of marriage until Neil's passing in 1998.

Peggy was a cook and baker extraordinaire. You considered yourself fortunate to be invited to the Dougal home for Sunday dinner, or presented with a plateful of her "famous" Scottish shortbread.

Peggy leaves her daughter, Junea and her husband, Robert Hutchins of West Boylston; son, Brian and his wife, Susan of Princeton; her grandchildren, Andrew and his wife, Heather Hutchins, Jennifer and Julianne Hutchins; grand-daughter-in-law, Hannah Hutchins; and great- grandchildren, John, Adalyn, Peter, Natalie and Daniel Hutchins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Samuel, William and her twin, Richard  McVee (who died soon after birth). In 2016 she lost her beloved grandson, Benjamin Hutchins of New Jersey.

Peggy's family wishes to sincerely thank her loving friend and healthcare worker Lynn Trudell for her extraordinary care, and to the wonderful staff at the Notre Dame Long Term Care facility for helping Peggy through her final months.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Margaret's family on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Miles ~ Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
