STERLING - Margaret V. (Fagan) Gargulinski, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Worcester, Peg spent her entire life in Sterling, the daughter of Rollo B. and Mildred W. (Day) Fagan. Her husband of 53 years, Benedict B. Gargulinski died in 2002.
She graduated from Leominster High School and Salter Secretarial School in Worcester. Peg held various positions, including roles at Heald Machine Co., R.H. Whites, and Catholic Charities all in Worcester. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Ben, and together they raised their family in Sterling.
Peg was an active member of St. Richard of Chichester Church in Sterling, participating in its Women's Guild and Prayer Group and serving as a CCD teacher. She was also involved in the Sterling Extension Service, Sterling Women's Club, and enjoyed line dancing, traveling, arts and crafts. Peg enthusiastically supported her children's activities, including serving as a Den Mother for Sterling Cub Scouts. Above all, she found immense joy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Ann Desmarais and her friend Paul Kennedy of Princeton, and Marybeth Hall and her husband John of North Carolina; three sons, Brother Benedict Gargulinski of Saint Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Mark Gargulinski and his wife Lea of Goshen Park, Maryland, and John Gargulinski and his wife Jane of Petersham; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nephews, and nieces. Besides her husband Ben, Peg is predeceased by two brothers, Elston and Leslie Fagan.
A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, February 10, at St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Interment will be held privately in the spring at Oakhill Cemetery in Sterling. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center in Sterling.
