STERLING – Margaret A. (Moriarty) Litterio, 81, of 58 Maple Street, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, in Umass Memorial - Clinton Hospital.
Her husband of 46 years, Francis “Moe” P. Litterio, died in August of 2003. She leaves two sons, Francis P. and his wife Michelle Litterio of Blackstone and James V. and his wife Veronica of Sterling; a grandson, John Healey of Fitchburg; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Charles and Jackie Moriarty, and two sisters, Marie Hopkins and Helen Moriarty, predeceased her. She was born in Rutland, Vermont, daughter of John A. and Helen (Healey) Moriarty. She was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a secretary to General James Doolittle at the Pentagon.
Mrs. Litterio worked for the Armour Company, American Steel & Wire Company and at the Sterling Town Hall for many years. After her retirement she worked for Ground Control Systems in Sterling. She was a member of the American Legion, the Worcester Light Opera and sang in several bands in the Worcester area as well as the Air Force Band. She enjoyed music, reading, cooking and political debates.
Mrs. Litterio’s Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, Sterling. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Clinton Road (Rte. 62), Sterling. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Memorial donations may be made to the Town of Sterling Fire Department Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 515, Sterling, MA 01564; or to St. Richard’s of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge Street, P.O.
