Biography

HOLDEN – Marcelle C. (Duquette) Potvin, 89, of Reservoir St., passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, after an illness. Born in Lawrence and raised in Worcester, Marcelle was the daughter of Panphile and Ida (Hamel) Duquette and lived in Charlton before moving to Holden in 1999. She graduated from Holy Family High School in Worcester.

Her beloved husband of 61 years, Emile S. Potvin died in 2006. Marcelle is survived by two sons, Thomas Potvin and his wife, Judy of Webster and Richard Potvin and his wife, Sharleen of Leicester; four daughters, Sister Elaine Potvin, SSA of Marlborough, Louise Pelevan and her husband, Ismail of Holden, Jeanne M. Corrao and her husband, James with whom she lived, and Denise Lagace and her husband, Paul of Worcester; three sisters, Lucille Dagostino and her husband, Daniel of Worcester, Elaine Barrus and her husband, Ronald of Holden and Anita St. Armand of Ft. Myers, FL; 11 grandchildren, Kara, Eric, Marcy, Lisa, John, Elizabeth, Matthew, Nicole, Lauren, Nicholas, and Joseph; 2 great-grandchildren, Sonya and Trudy; two sisters-in-law, Gail Duquette of Worcester and Beatrice Duquette of Naples, Florida; several nephews and nieces. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by three brothers, Albert, Raymond and Donald Duquette.

Marcelle was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson. She was a gracious, loving presence in this world and spent her life in selfless devotion to her family. She bravely accepted the loss of her sight and hearing in her later years with grace and dignity.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marcelle’s family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 7, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Marcelle will be laid to rest next to her husband at Notre Dame Mausoleum in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Why Me?
