Biography
Manny Weintraub, age 92, died on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the Jewish Healthcare Center after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of seventy years, Clara (Goodman) Weintraub; a son, David Weintraub of Hudson; a daughter, Lee Ann Weintraub of Brookline; and two grandchildren, Amanda wife of Logan Sena of Salem, MA and Jordan Weintraub of Newton. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Alfred Weintraub, and by his sister, Belle Cohen Wilson.He was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue and its Brotherhood and the Jewish War Veterans. He was born and raised in Worcester and was the son of Samuel and Ida (Adelson) Weintraub, who were the founders of Weintraub’s Delicatessen on Water Street. For over 50 years, Manny and his two older brothers put their imprint in the deli business serving the best Kosher style deli in the New England area, working three stores and a catering business. This was hard work and long hours, but very satisfying.In June of this year, his family and friends celebrated the occasion of their 70th wedding anniversary. He graduated Classical High School and he and his two brothers fought in WWII. Upon his return from the Army, he married the love of his life, Clara Goodman with whom he shared a magical 70 year marriage. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing with friends and family including trips out of the country with his buddy, Irwin Markowitz. In his 40’s he followed Clara’s lead and he took up golf and got hooked. He wasn’t the best, but he loved being out on the course, hitting some good shots, just enjoying the company of friends. He and Clara, along with other Bridge Club members, took numerous golf trips to Europe as well as to Israel.FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 12:30 PM ON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 24, IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B’Nai Brith cemetery.Immediately following the interment, Memorial Observance will be held at Salisbury West Clubhouse at 770 Salisbury Street. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, 01609.
