STERLING – Tanya M. (Alkire) Pape, 74, of Redemption Rock Trail, died at home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009.
She leaves her husband of 50 years, George M. Pape; two daughters, Cynthia L. Morrow and her companion Richard E. Chadwick of Sterling and Georganne M. Schmutzer and her husband Christian of La Crescenta, CA; a son, Edward H. Pape of Rutland; a sister, Lila Wickham and her husband Rockne of Portland, OR; 10 grandchildren, Kristi, Jennifer, Melanie, Eric, Katelynn, Meghan, Matthew, Jasmine, Stephen and Jessica; and a great-grandson to be born in July. A daughter, Kathleen A. Rozanski, predeceased her.
Tanya was born in Glendale, California, daughter of Edward and Madeline (Julian) Alkire, and has lived in Sterling since 1977. She was a graduate of Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, as a registered nurse. She worked as a certified medical auditor and registered nurse and was also president of USA Doors, Inc. in Worcester. She was a member of Oakdale United Methodist Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 31st, in Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. The funeral service for Tanya will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 1st, in the Oakdale United Methodist Church, 15 North Main Street, West Boylston. Burial will be at sea in the Pacific Ocean. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations may be made to the Marine Corps League Building Fund, 181 Lake Avenue, Worcester, MA 01604.
