Malcolm R. Malcomson

November 20, 1931 — July 26, 2016

Malcolm R. Malcomson, 84, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 with his cherished family at his bedside. He was born in Wyandotte, MI a son of the late Ralph L. and Ella S. (Kennedy) Malcomson.


Malcolm graduated from Roosevelt High School, Wynadotte and Michigan State University. He then earned a Masters Degree in Engineering from MIT, Cambridge. While in college, Malcolm joined the US Air Force and proudly served five years. Following his military service, Malcolm embarked on what would become a more than 30 year career working as an electronic engineer with several companies including Lockheed, Mark Systems and Iotron Corporation. He retired from Raytheon as a plant manager.  During his free time, Malcolm enjoyed spending time on the golf course and enthusiastically supporting the Red Sox and Patriots. He excelled at sports as a young man, including playing football in high school, where he was named captain of the team and rowing crew. Malcolm also had passion for Morgan horses and enjoyed raising them as well as attending horse shows. Along with his wife, Malcolm spent over 20 years living in Bolton and in his retirement years enjoyed time in Mashpee as well as The Villages in Florida. He returned to the area several years ago and settled in Hubbardston.


He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Evonne E. (Browne) Malcomson; his three children, Roderick T. Malcomson and his companion, Marie Meunier of Baldwinville, Marilee T. Fields of Clinton and Julia L. Moore and her husband, Brian of Rutland; his brother, Mike Malcomson of Michigan; his sister, Gloria Garcia of Tracy, CA; his five grandchildren, Stephanie Fields, Ryan and Stacey Malcomson, and Allison and Megan Moore; his two great grandchildren, Baylee and Tessa Malcomson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Ralph and Elmer Malcomson and by his two sisters, Joyce Oliver and Beulah Downey.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Malcolm’s family on Thursday, July 28, from 5-8 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service honoring his life will be held on Friday, July 29, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Evergreen Cemetery, Hubbardston. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations  may be sent to the Wachusett Food Pantry, P.O. Box 62, Jefferson, MA 01522.
