Malcolm Alan Cole

PAXTON - Malcolm Alan "Mac" Cole, 90, of Paxton passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 from natural causes during a brief hospital stay. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Dr. Pauline Dyer Grey Cole along with two children; Sean Cole (N.Y.) and Meagan Cole Scalley (Cotuit, MA) three step-children; Douglas, Lachlan and Heather Grey (R.I., FL and CT), and ten grandchildren; Douglas Cole, Alexis, and Dustin Grey, (R.I.), Elijah and Vivian Grey (FL), Dakota and Haley Miller (MA) and Brooke, Keith and Eric Bergevin (CT). Mac was a well-known figure in Folk Music circles. He hosted the Folk and Acoustic Open Mic in Worcester for many years.

Mac was born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended public schools and Temple University High School. He graduated from Springfield College with a B.A. in Recreation Therapy and Boston University with a MSW degree. He served as Recreation Director at Brattleboro Retreat Hospital, VT and later for the Boston Housing Authority and the MA Dept. of Employment Training.

A Celebration of Mac's life will be held when covid restrictions allow for large gatherings. Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield College, Office of Development, 263 Alden St., Springfield, MA 01019.
