HOLDEN – Dorothy Mae (Landry) Donovan, 90, of Mayo Drive, died peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, February 21, 2011 in the Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Her husband of 57 years, James F. Donovan, died in 2000. She is survived by her son, James F. Donovan, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Clinton Township, MI; four daughters, Kathleen G. George and her husband William and Maureen A. Groccia and her husband Steven, all of Holden; Nancy M. Perrone and her husband David of Wake Forest, NC; and Patricia D. Jalowy and her husband Thomas of Mashpee; a brother, Milton Landry of Shrewsbury; a sister, Jeanette Hayes of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. A brother, Norman Landry and a sister, Leona Goodell, predeceased her.
She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Charles and Harriet (Blanchard) Landry, and lived in Auburn, Holden, and Oldsmar, Florida, before returning to Massachusetts in 2000. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and the Becker Business School. Dorothy was an avid golfer and member of the Holden Hills Country Club and the East Lake Woodlands Country Club in Oldsmar. She also enjoyed playing bridge, knitting and traveling. Throughout her life she was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 22nd, at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522; or American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Worcester, 7 Oak Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
