Madelyn M. (Connor) Oldakowski

RUTLAND – Madelyn M. (Connor) Oldakowski, 85, of Pleasantdale Road, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009.

Her husband of 14 years, Benjamin P. Oldakowski, died in 1979. She leaves two sons, Warren "Dan" Nurmi of Greenback, TN and Robert Nurmi of Somerville; four daughters, Margaret Barlow of Milford, Patricia Trick and Mary Boudreau, both of Gardner and Janice Forrest of Rutland; a brother, Gilman Connor of Barre; a sister, Ruth Wagher of Millbury; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Her first husband, Eino Nurmi, a brother, Thomas Connor and a granddaughter, Terry Stoddard, predeceased her. She was born in Rutland, daughter of Thomas Connor and Margaret (Holland) Connor Lopresti, and lived in Rutland most of her life.

Madelyn was a nurse's aide at Bedford V.A. Hospital, retiring in 1985. Previously, she worked for Newington V.A. in Connecticut, Bath V.A. in New York and Rutland Heights Hospital in Rutland.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at 12 noon followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 15th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delia Anderson Trust Fund, 250 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
