HOLDEN – Madeline L. (Grampetro) Mariotti, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at River Terrace in Lancaster after an illness. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Lawrence Grampetro and had lived in Holden since 1974.
She leaves her loving husband of 48 years, Howard “Howie” T. Mariotti; two sons, Howard L. Mariotti and his wife, Olga of Randolph and Andrew F. Mariotti of Holden; her daughter, Maria E. Mariotti-Parker and her husband, Ralph of North Hollywood, CA; her mother, Mary S. (Cammuso) Grampetro of Worcester; her brother, Lawrence Grampetro and his wife, Mary Ellen of Worcester; six grandchildren, Nathan, Jessica, Jacob and Miranda Wilder and Olivia and Joshua Mariotti; her niece, Beth Grampetro; her nephew, Joe Grampetro; and many great friends.
Madeline graduated from North High School in Worcester and then Worcester State College in 1966. She was a 5th grade school teacher at the May Street School in Worcester before changing careers and going to work at Spencer Savings Bank in Rutland. She started out as a part-time teller and moved up the ranks over 24 years and retired as an assistant manager in 2009. Madeline also was an accomplished seamstress and co-owned a small craft business with her mother for 4 years. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Jefferson, a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband and at one time was a leader for Boys and Girls Camp Fire. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed holiday décor and loved the comradery, the friendships and the many “getaways” she had with co-workers and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Madeline’s family on Thursday, July 7, from 6 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, July 8, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
