WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Mabel V. (Hall) Picard, 90, passed away at Holden Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after a period of declining health. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Frank E. and Emma (Buck) Hall and graduated from Commerce High School.
Her loving husband, William J. Picard, Jr. passed away in 1976. She leaves two daughters, Jeanne M. Elliott and her husband, Francis of Flagler Beach, FL and Suzanne M. Medine and her husband, Charles of Holden; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne C. Picard of Holden; a sister-in-law, Maurine Fassett; five grandchildren, Maureen Desilets, Kathleen Vinson, Colleen Koss, Kirsten Ramsey and Matthew Medine; many great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph W. Picard; four siblings, Francis, William, Raymond and Marion.
Mabel was a lifelong active member of St. George’s Church in Worcester. She taught CCD, was a member of the Women’s Guild, the Legion of Mary, a longtime parent educator and worked at St. George’s rectory as a cook and housekeeper for over 25 years. She enjoyed knitting with friends and spending time with her family whom she cherished dearly. Mabel was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and aunt.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The celebration of Mabel’s life will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from the funeral home with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
