HOLDEN – M. Jane (Knox) Bergstrom, 82, of 31C Flagler Drive, died Sunday, February 26, 2006, in Holden Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 39 years, Robert E. Bergstrom, died in February of 1986. She leaves two daughters, Janice R. Cross and her husband Kendall “Casey” of Jefferson and Brenda M. Hardy and her husband Gary of East Brookfield; a sister, Jane Ann Deptula and her husband Mickey of Coventry, Rhode Island; four grandchildren, Christopher Ingalls, Jennifer DeWitt and her husband Steven, Mathew Cross and Bridget Hardy; two great-grandsons, Ian DuPont and Ethan DeWitt; two nephews and a niece. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of the late George A. Knox.
Mrs. Bergstrom was a graduate of the Nelson W. Aldrich High School in Warwick, Rhode Island. During World War II she was an Air Raid Warden, an aircraft observer and a member of the Rhode Island State Airport Post #61. She worked in admitting at Holden District Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 1988. Previously she worked in Warwick City Hall.
A memorial service for Mrs. Bergstrom will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Spring burial will be in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street, Holden. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
