SHREWSBURY/HOLDEN – M. Beverly (Carrier) Christian Sotnick, 85, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012 at UMass Memorial Health Care-Memorial Campus, Worcester, after a brief illness.
The love of her life and husband of 32 years, Ralph J. Christian, died in 1980. She leaves her daughter, Sandra V. Flynn and her husband John of West Boylston; two grandchildren, Joshua C. Savage and his wife Kelly of Wolfforth, TX and Julie Anne Bembenek and her husband Scott of Oxford; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Bembenek of Oxford and Jessica Spiece of Webster; a step grandson, Christopher Flynn and his wife Tiffany of Hutchinson, KS; two step great-grandsons, Zachary and Eric Baumann of Wolfforth, TX; and her beloved cats, Misty and Ginger. Her second husband, Walter Sotnick, died in 1998.
Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Pascoe and Julia (Angell) Carrier and lived in Holden for over 30 years before moving to Shrewsbury 22 years ago. She was a graduate of Salter Secretarial School and a member of St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury.
Beverly was devoted to her family. She enjoyed vacationing at Lake Placid, New York, the beach and the mountains. She had a passion for animals and gardening.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in the funeral home with burial following at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, with checks payable to Animal Shelter, Inc., 17 Laurelwood Road, Sterling, MA 01564; or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
